Class of 2021 guard C.J. Noland has committed to Oklahoma, he tells ZAGSBLOG.
“I’m committing to the University of Oklahoma,” Noland said by phone ahead of his announcement.
The 6-foot-3, 215-pound shooting guard from Waxahachie (TX), chose the Sooners over his other six finalists: Texas A&M, Kansas State, TCU, Troy, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt.
“I believe Oklahoma is the best fit,” he said. “I see myself as a student-athlete there, just building, growing and developing there.”
Noland did not take an official visit to Oklahoma before his decision.
“I’ve driven past campus plenty of times before,” he said. “I’ve never taken a visit there where I’ve gone into the arena or locker room or any of that.”
He joins three-star point guard Bijan Cortes as the second commit in OU’s 2021 class.
“Bijan texted me as soon as they offered and he’s been recruiting me to go there ever since,” Noland said. “We’re going to be a great, passionate duo getting everyone involved, but also scoring for ourselves and creating looks for ourselves.
“That will be a great backcourt in 2021.”
Ranked by 247Sports.com as the No. 31 shooting guard in the Class of 2021, Noland broke down his game:
“Oklahoma fans can expect a very passionate person about the game,” he said. “I’m very excited when I play. I’m just a player that will make the right plays, get better looks for the team and win.”
