NCAA live recruiting periods unlikely in August: sources

By ADAM ZAGORIA

The NCAA is unlikely to hold live recruiting periods in August, multiple sources said.

The NCAA Division I Council is due to vote “within the next few weeks” after a vote was deferred this week.

The proposed recruiting windows are Aug. 15-16 (Non-scholastic events), Aug. 22-23 (Scholastic events), Sept. 5-7 (Non-scholastic) and Sept. 19-20 (Scholastic). No October dates are being proposed yet, but they will be if August has to be canceled, sources said.

The decision figures to be a boon for the Live stream industry. College coaches who will not be permitted to be in attendance in July and August can watch Live streams that are available to the public.

“So if I’m a coach at the Division I level and I can watch games via live stream, as long as the competition is what it needs to be, it’s worth it,” Boston Spartans coach Joe Chatman said.
