Kansas lands Class of 2021 forward Zach Clemence

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Kansas on Monday landed a pledge from Class of 2021 forward Zach Clemence.

The 6-foot-10, 215-pound junior forward from Sunrise Christian (KS) was also courted by Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, among others.

“Yes, sir, I committed to Kansas,” Clemence told JayhawkSlant.com on Monday. “I had a great conversation with the coaching staff and just being up in Kansas during my visits, it just led me towards making a decision.

“Kansas has always been my first (choice),” he added. “Kansas has always been my first pick, but I just felt like giving these other schools options. I’ve been talking to the coaching staff at Kansas and it’s a great situation for me, so I might as well take it.”

Clemence was at Kansas for the famed “Late Night in the Phog” where Snoop Dogg stole the show.

“It was very special, if you want to put it that way,” he said at the Hoophall Classic in January. “Just Snoop Dogg and that whole thing was very special.”

Asked if he had any fake dollar bills shot at him, he said, “A couple, a couple.”

He plans to be a “stretch-4. A do-it-all-type player. Rebound, push it, all that, hit 3-pointers.”

Said Sunrise Christian coach Luke Barnwell: “He’s an extremely skilled big who can play all over the floor. Zachary is a great kid who works hard at it and wants to be great.”
