Texas Tech lands VCU grad transfer Marcus Santos-Silva

By JACOB POLACHECK

VCU grad transfer Marcus Santos-Silva has committed to Texas Tech, he announced Wednesday via Twitter.

After cutting his list to six last week, Silva chose Texas Tech over Georgia, Maryland, Ole Miss, Penn State and Arizona State.

Santos-Silva averaged 12.8 points and 8.9 rebounds last season at VCU, and will be immediately eligible in 2020-21.

He joins Nimari Burnett, Micah Peavy, Chibuzo Agbo Jr., JUCO prospect Esahia Nyiwe and Wichita State transfer Jamarius Burton as the sixth commit in Texas Tech’s 2020 class.

The Red Raiders are also in contention for five-star forward Jonathan Kuminga.
