Rhode Island continued its strong recruiting season on Friday with the addition of 6-foot-4, 189-pound point guard Norance “Tres” Berry from Scotland Campus (PA).
“I chose Rhode Island because while being there I just felt like it was a family, that had one goal [which was to] win with players that want to be there,” he said. “And I just felt like they were all on the same page and locked in.”
Berry chose Rhody over Auburn, Tennessee, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and others.
“He really liked them from the start,” Scotland Campus coach Chris Chaney said. “He is a very confident and competitive player who has a good feel for all concepts of the game.
“He grew as a player and a person here and was a focused player for us especially late in the season. He defends at a high level and is a high-IQ offensive player who shot it really well for us. He definitely will be a guy many will be talking about soon enough.”
Berry joins 2020 point guard Elijah Wood and small forward Ishmael Leggett in coach David Cox’s class.
Rhody also added Malik Martin and the Mitchell twins via transfer.
