Kentucky lands Creighton grad transfer Davion Mintz

By JACOB POLACHECK & ADAM ZAGORIA

Creighton grad transfer Davion Mintz announced his commitment to Kentucky on Friday via social media.

The 6-foot-3 point guard from Charlotte, N.C. opted to sit out last season as a redshirt after suffering a high ankle sprain in the preseason.

Kentucky has a six-man recruiting class ranked No. 1 by 247Sports.com, including point guard Devin Askew. Mintz could end up being the starting point guard for the Wildcats when the season opens.

Mintz appeared in 97 games over 79 starts during his first three seasons at Creighton.

During the 2018-19 season, Mintz averaged 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals. Mintz averaged 28.8 minutes per game over 35 games played.

Kentucky is also pursuing 7-foot-3 Purdue transfer Matt Haarms, as they expect to lose junior forward Nick Richards to the NBA Draft.
