Alabama adds Yale grad transfer Jordan Bruner

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Jordan Bruner, the 6-foot-9 graduate transfer from Yale, is headed to Alabama and will be immediately eligible next season.

Bruner, who averaged 10.9 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists last season for the Bulldogs, chose the Crimson Tide over Baylor and Maryland.

“Coach [Nate] Oats is setting up a good system at a new school, and has a history of winning,” Bruner said.

Oats has been on a bit of a recruiting run recently. The Tide added Class of 2020 Canadian guard Josh Primo on March 24.

Alabama has three players testing the NBA Draft waters in juniors John Petty and Herb Jones and sophomore Kira Lewis Jr.

Bruner is the latest Ivy League grad transfer to land at a high-major school.

Earlier Friday, former Columbia guard Mike Smith landed at Michigan after his former Lions teammate, 6-10 forward Patrick TapΓ©, committed to Duke.

Two grad transfers from Harvard also ended up at high-major schools. Seth Towns, an Ohio native, pledged to Ohio State, while New Jersey native Bryce Aiken committed to Seton Hall on Thursday.
