Ohio State lands top grad transfer Seth Towns

By JACOB POLACHECK

Harvard grad-transfer Seth Towns announced his commitment to Ohio State on Saturday during ESPN’s SportsCenter.

Towns was also considering Duke, but ultimately sided with the Buckeyes.

According to ESPN, Towns is ranked as the No. 1 grad transfer on the market this year.

Towns missed the 2018-19 season with a knee injury and sat out last season while completely recovering and preparing to transfer.

During his freshman season, Towns averaged 12.3 points per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three-point range. He also averaged 4.4 rebounds and. 1.3 assists in 28 games played.

As a sophomore, Towns averaged 16 points per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 44.1 percent from three-point range. He also added 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, going on to be named Ivy League Player of the Year.

He was named the Ivy League Player of the Year following the 2017-18 season and was an unanimous All-Ivy League first team selection.

Towns’ decision comes two days after Ohio State freshman guard D.J. Carton announced his intentions to transfer on Thursday.
