Xavier commit C.J. Wilcher goes off from long range to propel Roselle Catholic to state sectional title

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Xavier signee C.J. Wilcher came up clutch on Wednesday night.

With Roselle Catholic trailing Gill St. Bernard’s by 10 points midway through the fourth quarter of the New Jersey North Non-Public B title game, Wilcher hit three straight 25-foot 3-pointers to propel the Lions to a 59-58 victory.

Wilcher scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter and drained six treys in the game. Florida commit Niels Lane added 15 points.

The Lions will play South Non-Public B winner Wildwood Catholic for the Non-Public B state title on Saturday. The game site has yet to be determined.

Assuming the Tournament of Champions goes forward in the wake of the coronavirus threat, RC remains alive for its fourth TOC title since 2013.

Only St. Anthony’s (13) and St. Patrick/The Patrick School (6) have more.

The TOC finals will no longer take place at Rutgers in the wake of the coronavirus threat.
