Devin Tillis to UNLV

By JACOB POLACHECK

Devin Tillis, the 6-foot-6 small forward from the Windward School (CA) and the Compton Magic AAU program, has committed to UNLV, he announced via Twitter Monday.

Tillis chose UNLV over schools such as Cal Poly, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, UC Riverside and Denver, among others.

“He’s a super versatile wing, who can do it all,” said Compton Magic Program Director Etop Udo-Ema. “He can really shoot it, is a great passer and has a high IQ.”

Tillis joins Nick Blake, Jhaylon Martinez, Isaac Lindsey and Donavan Yap as the fifth commit in UNLV’s 2020 class.

“Devin is one of the most skilled and versatile players I have ever coached,” Windward assistant coach Matt Elkin said. “Not only can he impact the game in a variety of ways, but he has such a high IQ it is like having a coach out there on the floor whenever he is in the game.

“He’s a natural-born leader and he knows how to motivate his teammates to perform at their best. Most importantly, he is a great young man and will be a great addition to the Runnin’ Rebels program next season.”
