Bronny James scores go-ahead layup against LeBron’s alma mater with dad watching

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Bronny James and his Sierra Canyon (CA) teammates will appear on ESPN’s James told ESPN during a halftime interview. “Coming in here and being such a surreal moment for myself, our family, for Bronny himself. It’s pretty cool.”

James added that he used to get upset at his mother for cheering loudly for him during his AAU games, but can now relate to what she went through.

“I apologize,” he said. “I know exactly what it’s like to be a parent watching your kids play.”

James, who chartered a flight on the Lakers’ off day between games in Miami and Chicago to watch the game, watched it courtside with his former St. Vincent-St. Mary teammates known as the “Fab Five.” James led the school win a state championship in 2003. His agent Rich Paul was also in attendance.

Sierra Canyon will appear on ESPN’s air (including ESPN3) 13 times this season, more than some NBA teams.

On Jan. 3 in Minneapolis, Sierra Canyon will face Jonathan Kuminga and The Patrick School (N.J.), ranked No. 3 by USA Today, in a game that will be shown on ESPN2.

The Patrick School has produced several NBA players, including Kyrie Irving, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Al Harrington.

A day later, on Jan.4, Sierra Canyon will face Minnehaha Academy (Minn.) on ESPN3.

On Jan. 20, Sierra Canyon will face No. 8 Paul VI (VA) on ESPNU from the prestigious Hoophall Classic.

And on Feb. 7-8, Bronny’s team will face Gill St. Bernard’s (N.J.) and No. 9 Long Island Lutheran from the Metro Classic in Toms River, N.J.
