Puff Johnson commitment gives North Carolina No. 2-ranked recruiting class

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Donovan “Puff” Johnson, the 6-foot-8 forward from Hillcrest Prep (AZ) and the All Ohio Red AAU, committed to North Carolina on Tuesday night.

He also considered Arizona, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Pittsburgh.

Johnson is the younger brother of former UNC standout and Suns draftee, Cam Johnson. His commitment gives North Carolina the No. 2 recruiting class in 2020 per 247Sports.com.

“He is a 6-foot-8 wing that can really make shots,” Hillcrest coach Nick Weaver said. “He is very hard to guard because he can score from all three levels. Puff also has an extremely high IQ and can play a 1-4.”

This year on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Johnson averaged 15.4 points and 4.1 rebounds in 12 games played.

According to 247Sports, Johnson is ranked No. 48 nationally and is the No. 13 small forward.
