Villanova going three deep for A.J. Griffin; UNC set for home visit with R.J. Davis

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Two days after Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and two assistants came to see A.J. Griffin, Villanova is expected to go three deep with a trio of assistants on Wednesday at White Plains (N.Y.) Archbishop Stepinac.

With Villanova coach Jay Wright in China for the FIBA World Cup, Villanova’s entire remaining staff will see the Class of 2021 forward ranked No. 11 in the Class of 2021 by ESPN.com.

In June, the 16-year-old Griffin picked up offers from Duke, Kansas, Villanova, Michigan and Vanderbilt β€” in one day. Kentucky has expressed interest but has yet to offer.

β€œIt just shows how much work I put in, to see that other people know my potential,” the 6-foot-7, 215-pound Ossining, N.Y., native said after an open gym Monday.

North Carolina’s Roy Wiliams and Hubert Davis are also expected Wednesday at Stepinac for 2020 point guard R.J. Davis, who is down to UNC, Georgetown, Marquette and Pittsburgh.

The Tar Heels will have a home visit with Davis Wednesday evening.
