Day’Ron Sharpe, the 6-foot-10 center from South Central (NC), will transfer to Montverde (FL) Academy for his senior year of high school. Sharpe is committed to North Carolina for the 2020 class.
“Thank you South Central for an amazing three years,” Sharpe said in a post via Instagram. “It will always be my home. But with that being said, I will be attending Montverde Academy for my senior year.”
Sharpe committed to UNC in June of 2018 following the NBPA Top 100 Camp.
“He is a great student, has a high Basketball IQ, is a very good passer and is the most underrated player in the last 5 years,” Montverde coach Kevin Boyle told ZAGSBLOG Monday. “If he stays humble and hungry can be a high first round pick. He will be a great addition to North Carolina in 2020.”
As a junior at. South Central, Sharpe averaged 15.9 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He also finished the year with 46 blocks, as his team finished with a 30-1 record and won the North Carolina 4A State Championship Title.
With Sharpe, Montverde will feature a number of top-100 prospects, including 2020’s Cade Cunningham, Moses Moody, Zeb Jackson, 2021’s Langston Love and 2022’s Caleb Houstan and Dariq Whitehead.
