Kansas shooting guard Quentin Grimes announced his intentions to transfer to Houston on Thursday via Twitter. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Grimes took visits to both Houston and Texas A&M in early June.
According to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Grimes is expected to apply for a waiver to be eligible immediately at Houston.
Grimes, a former McDonald’s All-American and top-10 recruit in the 2018 class, began his freshman year heralded as a future lottery pick.
However, Grimes struggled at Kansas, averaging 8.4 points and 2.0 assists during his lone season in Lawrence.
Grimes is expected to fill the void left by point guard Armoni Brooks, who surprisingly kept his name in last week’s draft.
