Jalen Cone, the 5-foot-11 point guard from Walkertown (NC) High School, announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Thursday at his high school. He took his official visit to VA Tech earlier this year (Apr. 29).
“I have the opportunity to play on the biggest stage of college basketball and I am confident that I am ready,” Cone told Rivals Thursday. “I see myself being the center piece for distributing and scoring. They need Jalen Cone and Coach [Mike] Young’s system has Jalen Cone written all over it.”
Cone chose Virginia Tech over Tennessee, NC State, Boston College, Texas A&M and Wake Forest. He joins Hunter Cattoor and Keve Aluma as the third commit in the Hokies’ 2019 class.
According to 247Sports, Cone is ranked as the No. 100 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 6 player from the state of North Carolina.
