LSU freshman big man Naz Reid has declared for the NBA Draft and plans to sign with an agent.

This comes as no surprise as ZAGSBLOG reported during the NCAA Tournament that LSU expected to lose the Asbury Park, N.J. native and former Roselle (N.J.) Catholic star.

The 6-foot-10 Reid is currently projected as the No. 47 pick per ESPN.com. A number of NBA teams have recently checked in with Reid’s high school coach, Dave Boff, including San Antonio.

“I will be entering the NBA Draft with an agent in hopes of finally fulfilling a dream I believe is my destiny,” Reid wrote on Instagram.

With the inevitable move of Buzz Williams to Texas A&M, Virginia Tech is now targeting Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard to replace him, multiple source said.

“It’s Kevin’s job if he wants it,” one source said. “Virginia Tech will pay.”

The source said it should all shake out this week, one way or the other.

Williams reportedly made $3 million this past season at the ACC school, which would be a significant pay raise from what Willard now makes, which is closer to $2 million.

Fairfield has hired Rutgers assistant coach Jay Young as its new head coach.

Young had been the school’s top target.

“I am excited and proud to announce Jay Young as the next Head Coach of Fairfield Men’s Basketball,” said AD Paul Schlickmann. “He emerged at every step of our thorough search process as the individual with the depth and breadth of experience to lead our program.  Jay has a stellar reputation for operating with integrity and an authentic approach to the recruitment and overall development of young men.  He has coached at every level of college basketball and has been the common denominator of great success at each of those stops.  Jay is a winner and will be relentless in his approach to achieve excellence in every aspect of our program.  I am confident his passion and energy will create a unique identity for Stags Men’s Basketball that will resonate with our community.”

Villanova freshman guard Jahvon Quinerly will transfer and will place his name into the NCAA Transfer portal later this week, the school announced.

Pittsburgh is expected to be heavily in the mix for Quinerly, sources said.

“We had a very candid meeting and Jahvon has decided to transfer to another program,” said Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “We’ll miss Jahvon. He’s been an outstanding teammate and was an integral part of our success last season. We wish him the best as he approaches the next step in his basketball career.”
