This could be a banner year for Canadians in the NBA Draft.
Six Canadians are projected to be drafted, according to the latest mock from ESPN.com.
That would surpass the record of four in 2014, when three were taken in the first round.
Per ESPN, Duke’s R.J. Barrett is projected at No. 3, Gonzaga’s Brandon Clarke at No. 14, Virginia Tech’s Nickeil-Alexander Walker at No. 20, Arizona State’s Luguentz Dort at No. 25, Florida State’s Mfiondu Kabengele at No. 27 and Michigan’s Ignas Brazdeikis at No. 40.
That follows an NCAA tournament in which all six players were among 24 Canadians in the Big Dance.
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said Barrett, whose Godfather is Steve Nash, could end up being the best Canadian ever.
“R.J. can be as good as anybody coming from Canada,” Coach K said last month.
