Kevin Willard ‘praying’ for Myles Powell to come back to Seton Hall

By ADAM ZAGORIA

MINNEAPOLIS — Now that he’s remaining at Seton Hall, Kevin Willard is “praying” Myles Powell does so as well.

“Let’s go through the draft process, the NBA will let you know if you are ready,” Willard told Bruce Beck of NBC on Sunday night. “I’m praying for him to be back.”

The 6-foot-2 Powell announced last week he will test the NBA Draft process. He is not projected to be drafted.

Seton Hall is ranked No. 23 in the early preseason rankings from Sporting News. The ranking assumes Powell is on the team.

Beck also asked Willard about his conversations with Virginia Tech and why he chose to remain at Seton Hall.

“It was a real hard decision but I had a great team with a group of kids you enjoy coaching,” he said. “I don’t want to walk away.”

Willard, 44, has led Seton Hall to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances and has a team capable of making a fifith. He figures to again be a hot candidate next year at this time if so.
