Duke freshman phenom Zion Williamson has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 right knee sprain, the team announced Thursday. He is progressing as expected, and his status is day-to-day.
In Duke’s game Wednesday against rival North Carolina, Williamson injured his knee on a non-contact play while attempting to take UNC’s Luke Maye off the dribble. UNC went on to defeat Duke by a score of 88-72.
Williamson’s left foot came completely through his sneaker and he appeared to grab the back of his right knee as his leg slid out.
Williamson is second in the ACC in scoring (21.6), third in rebounds (8.8) and leads the conference in field goal percentage (.683) and steals (2.2).
Duke visits Syracuse on Saturday.
