Cameron Thomas, the 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Oak Hill (VA) Academy, told ZAGSBLOG Tuesday that NC State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, and UConn are the five schools working the hardest for his recruitment. He broke down each school:
NC State: “What appeals to me most about NC State is the relationship I have with Coach [Kevin] Keatts and Coach [James] Johnson. I also like their style of play.”
Oregon: “They have a really good coach and they explain how their freshman can come in contribute right away.”
Pittsburgh: “They tell me how they love my game and how they want to coach me one day.”
Wake Forest: “They have been good. Coach [Danny] Manning has been telling me that he would love to coach me.”
UConn: “They talk to me about how they feel I can be the next good guard to come out of there. They also talk about how I fit [in] their system with how they use their guards.”
Thomas also mentioned that Kansas and Auburn have shown interest lately.
“They said they will be in contact with me and whoever is helping me with my recruitment,” said Thomas on the recent interest.
Thomas has no upcoming visits planned. He spoke about what he is looking for in a school.
“I want to go to a school that is gonna let me play my game,” said Thomas. “I’m also factoring in their coaching.”
According to 247Sports, Thomas is ranked as the No. 30 overall player in the Class of 2020 and the No. 2 player from the state of Virginia.
“I’m a three-level scorer,” said Thomas, when asked to describe his game. “I’m a combo guard who can make plays for others.”
