2020 Guard D.J. Stewart Talks Recruitment at Hoophall Classic

By RYAN McMULLEN

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — D.J.Steward, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Whitney Young High School (IL) and the Chicago Meanstreets AAU program, updated his recruitment after leading his team to a win at the Hoophall Classic on Sunday.

“This is a great win for us,” he said after scoring 15 points in a 54-46 win over the Maret School. “Playing in a great environment with a lot of people in the crowd, they gave us a good shot so everyone came to play.”

On the recruiting front, Steward said Creighton, Virginia, Texas, DePaul, Illinois, Northwestern, Michigan, and Michigan State are involved. He hasn’t set up any visits yet but is looking to work some out for the summer.

“I’m just looking to take my time with it,” he said of a timetable.

According to 247sports, Steward is a four-star prospect, ranked No. 63 nationally and is No. 2 player from Illinois.
