Villanova’s Swider out indefinitely with fractured hand

Villanova announced that freshman Cole Swider is out indefinitely after suffering a fractured bone in his right (shooting) hand in practice Thursday.

The 6-foot-9 Swider has averaged 3.9 points and 1.5 rebounds per game for the Wildcats. He has appeared in 16 of Villanova’s 17 games thus far and contributed 10 points to a Big East road victory at Providence earlier this month.

“I really feel badly for Cole,” said Villanova head coach Jay Wright. “He’s one of the hardest workers on our team. Cole’s got an outstanding attitude and I know he’ll come back as quickly as possible from this injury.”

Villanova hosted Xavier Friday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
