Kofi Cockburn cuts to five schools

Kofi Cockburn , the 6-foot-10 big man from Oak Hill Academy (VA), has cut his list to five schools.

Cockburn, ranked No. 31 by ESPN, is down to Cockburn is down to Kansas, Pittsburgh, Illinois, UConn, and St. John’s. He cut Syracuse, Florida and LSU.

He recently took his first official visit to UConn, and will visit Illinois Dec. 28-30. 

Other officials are being planned.

“I want to go to a school where I’m able to go in, get better, and show my talent as a player and a person,” he said this summer.

Cockburn is at Oak Hill with fellow New York native Cole Anthony. They will be at the City of Palms Classic beginning Monday.

“It’s been good playing with Cole,” said Cockburn. “He’s a great point guard and he gets the job done at the end of the day.”
