N.C. State commit Jalen Lecque signed his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday night, his father told ZAGSBLOG.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Lecque said last weekend at the National Prep Showcase that he was leaning towards signing this week. The NCAA early signing period ends Wednesday (today). Lecque committed to N.C. State last month.

“We signed yesterday and we’re in,” Derrick Lecque said by phone. “I was just waiting this morning for confirmation.”

Lecque could declare for the 2019 NBA Draft because he’s a year removed from his graduating class and will turn 19 in 2019. He’s currently projected as the No. 25 pick in 2019 per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Representatives from 16 NBA teams watched Lecque and his Brewster Academy team go 0-2 at the National Prep Showcase at Albertus Magnus College.

Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney to sign in the spring

Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney of Roselle (N.J.) Catholic plans to sign his National Letter of Intent with the Wildcats in his hometown of Chicago during the spring signing period, a source told ZAGSBLOG.

The spring period runs April 17-May 15.

“He’ll be signing in the spring due to a logistical issue because he wants to do it at home in Chicago,” the source said. “His dream has always been to do it at his elemenatry school in Chicago and it didn’t work out for the fall.

“He’s still 100 percent committed to Kentucky. He’s not reopening his recruitment.”

Whitney commited to Kentucky on Aug. 8 over Illinois, Georgetown and Oregon. He is the projected No. 7 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, per ESPN’s mock.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Markelle Fultz won’t play for the Philadelphia 76ers until his troublesome right shoulder is examined by a specialist on Monday, but his agent says he doesn’t want to be traded.

Fultz, the No. 1 pick of the 2017 draft, added another curious chapter to an injury-plagued career when his representatives informed the Sixers on Tuesday that the guard would be examined next week.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Wednesday that Fultz’s agent, Raymond Brothers, has not told the team he wants Fultz to be traded.

Raymond Brothers, the agent for Sixers guard Markelle Fultz, tells ESPN: “I have given no indication to Elton Brand or anyone else that Markelle would prefer to be traded. My focus is to get Markelle healthy. End of story.”

Fultz played just 14 games last season because of a shoulder injury that seems to have affected his shooting mechanics and made him one of the more scrutinized players in the NBA. Fultz lost his starting spot in the rotation when the Sixers traded for Jimmy Butler.

He seemed to lose his backup point spot when coach Brett Brown gave TJ McConnell the bulk of the minutes in a win over Phoenix on Monday.
