St. John’s to host N.C. State transfer Ian Steere

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Former N.C. State freshman big man Ian Steere will visit St. John’s beginning Friday night on an official visit, Steere told ZAGSBLOG.

St. John’s is short on bigs this season, and the 6-foot-9 Steere could be a helpful addition.

The school announced Wednesday tht redshirt sophomore forward Sedee Keita will miss approximately 4-6 weeks after undergoing a successful surgery on his right knee.

A four-star recruit, Steere played just five minutes in N.C. State’s season-opening 105-55 win over Mount St. Mary’s, scoring four points and grabbing four rebounds. In N.C. State’ss second game against Maryland Eastern Shore, Steere was not with the team.

St. John’s will also host Cam Mack, a 6-2 guard from Salt Lake (UT) Community College beginning Sunday.

St. John’s has done well with transfers and currently features Mustapha Heron (Auburn), Justin Simon (Arizona) and Marvin Clark (Michigan State).
