Symir Torrence visits Butler, Marquette; Cincinnati up next

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Symir Torrence, the Class of 2020 combo guard from Vermont Academy and the Albany City Rocks, has taken official visits to Butler (Oct. 26-28) and Marquette (Oct. 29-31) and  will trip to Cincinnati (Nov. 6-8) next week.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Torrence is ranked the No. 5 combo guard in the Class of 2020 by 247Sports.com. He is being recruited by those schools as well as Vanderbilt, Virginia, Washington, Maryland and his hometown Syracuse.  He has no other visits planned until the spring.

He broke down his visits on Friday:

Butler: “The Butler visit was pretty good. I just felt comfortable and on that visit I got [the message] that if I go there, I would just be getting better in every situation that’s possible.”

Marquette: “It was good. Coach Wojo asked me what he needed to do to get me there, and said that this is the spot for me. He felt like he can help me in any way possible, and he can make me better off and on the court.”

He trips to Cincinnati Tuesday for the season opener against Ohio State.

Wherever he goes, he hopes to be a “leader and a hard-working freshman who will do anything to win.”
