Donta Scott to Maryland

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Donta Scott, the 6-foot-7 forward from Imhotep Institute (PA), committed to Maryland on Wednesday.

Scott took unofficial visits to St. Joes (Aug. 31) and Penn State (Sept. 1), and officials to Maryland (Sept. 14-16), Temple (Sept. 18-20), Seton Hall (Sept. 21-23), South Carolina (Oct. 5-7) and La Salle (Oct. 12-14).

“Donta is the most versatile player I have ever coached,” Imhotep coach Andre Noble said. “He can guard all five positions in high school, one through four in college.

“Besides a talented player, Maryland is getting a very good person. Donta is a team-first guy that has won at the highest of levels in high school. I’m happy for him and his family. They are great people.”

“Scott has a big upside,” said Philly Pride coach Howard Hudson. “He isn’t a reclassified kid, unlike many the players that he goes up against. He is still growing and developing. His greatest attribute is that he can play the 1-5. He may be the most versatile player in the country.”

Scott is currently ranked as a three-star recruit and the No. 6 player in Pennsylvania in the Class of 2019 in the 247Sports composite rankings.

He joins twins Makhi and Makhel Mitchell in Maryland’s 2019 class.
