Anthony Harris, the 6-foot-3 combo guard from Paul VI Catholic (VA) High School, announced his commitment to Virginia Tech on Tuesday, in a video released via Twitter. He took his official visit to Virginia Tech last month (Sept. 7).
“He’s a tough physical guard that is one of best defenders I’ve ever coached,” Paul VI head coach Glenn Farelo told ZAGSBLOG Tuesday. “He makes winning plays on the offensive end [and] is in attack mode at both ends with a relentless motor. He has the ability to play with and without the ball and will do whatever it takes to win.”
In addition to his Virginia Tech visit, Harris also took official visits to Wake Forest (Sept. 21) and Duke (Sept. 28). He becomes the first commit in the Hokies’ 2019 class.
According to 247Sports, Harris is ranked as the No. 64 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3 player from the state of Virginia.
A four-year starter, Harris guided Paul VI to an 18-0 record and the WCAC regular-season title. On the summer circuit, he helped Takeover enjoy a perfect regular season and then win Peach Jam and The Eight.
