Issac McBride, the 6-foot-1 combo guard from Arkansas Baptist (AR) School System, announced his commitment to Kansas on Monday, during a press conference. His commitment comes after taking his first and only official visit to Kansas on Friday (Sept. 28) for “Late Night in the Phog”.
McBride joins Christian Braun as the second commit in Kansas’ 2019 class. Kansas also hosted James Wiseman, Cassius Stanley, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, and Braun for official visits this past weekend for Late Night in the Phog.
Among those to take unofficial visits to Late Night included 2019’s Zeke Nnaji and Anthony Walker, 2020’s N’Faly Dante, Ty Berry, Elijah Wood, Bryce Thompson, and 2021 Johnathan Lawson.
“Yeah, Late Night was really fun. I enjoyed the experience, of course,” McBride told Phog.net Monday. “I’ve always heard about it or seen clips on TV and stuff. And I kinda underestimated it, like, ‘It’s probably like everybody else’s Midnight Madness.’ But I’ve been to a few. And this one by far was, of course, the craziest atmosphere.”
According to 247Sports, McBride is ranked as the No. 114 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 1 player from the state of Arkansas. He also held offers from schools such as Auburn, TCU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Wichita State, SMU, and Air Force, among others.
