2019 big man Zeke Nnaji cuts list to five, sets official visits

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Zeke Nnaji, the 6-foot-11 power forward from Hopkins (MN) and D1 Minnesota, cut his list to five schools and has set his official visits.

Nnaji is down to Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Purdue, and UCLA. He will take the following visits: Kansas (Oct. 5-7), Arizona (Oct. 12-14) UCLA (Oct. 19-21), Baylo (Oct. 26-28) and Purdue (Nov. 2-4.)

Nnaji recently had home visits with a slew of schools, including Kansas, Arizona, Kansas State, Indiana, Ohio State, Kentucky, Georgetown, Baylor, Minnesota and UCLA.

Kentucky was among the schools cut from the list.

“For us it’s more about the program’s style of play and how it lines up with Zeke’s style of play,” his father Apham said. “Most importantly is really the program’s needs, i.e. who’s coming and going when Zeke get theres. Kentucky is a storied program, hwoever our criteria has to be met.”

Meantime, Zeke was among a loaded group of recruits at Kansas this weekend for “Late Night in the Phog.”

“It was a really good visit with Coach [Bill] Self and his staff,” said Apham.

Kansas would ultimately love to add Nnaji in a frontcourt group that also includes targets Matthew Hurt and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl. Hurt and Nnaji are AAU teammates.

“They see him, Hurt and Robinson-Earl co-existing and really doing well,” Apham said. “Just like [Andrew] Wiggins and [Joel] Embiid did.”
