Doug Edert, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound combo guard from Bergen (N.J.) Catholic, committed to St. Peter’s on Wednesday evening.
Edert also held offers from FDU, Wagner and New Hampshire.
“I chose St. Peter’s because I believe in Coach [Shaheen] Holloway,” Edert said. “He’s a pure winner and I feel that he’s going to take my game to the next level and fill out my full potential as a basketball player. I feel he’s changing the whole program around at St. Peter’s. He’s making it really great for the whole school and I just wanted to be a part of that.”
Edert averaged 13.5 points and 4.0 assists last season, and has helped Bergen Catholic win 55 games as a three-year starter. He is St. Peter’s first commit in the Class of 2019.
“Doug has three qualities that make him a rare and special player: his toughness, high IQ, and his ability to score,” Bergen Catholic coach Billy Armstrong said. “It’s those three things combined that make him a winner and someone all coaches want on their team.”
