Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery has added a new prospect to his 2019 class as Joe Toussaint, the 6-foot guard from Cardinal Hayes (NY) and the PSA Cardinals, committed to the Hawkeyes via Twitter on Tuesday.
He picked Iowa over the likes of Dayton, UNLV, and Wichita State.
“Iowa was just a good fit for me, as they made me feel like home” Toussaint told ZAGSBLOG. “I am looking forward to having a great career there.”
Toussaint is a talented guard who excels when the ball is in his hands. His quick handles and shiftiness make him hard to defend as he can switch gears so swiftly. Another ability he carries is his court vision. Toussaint is constantly finding the biggest gap in the defense and executes upon it.
“The entire PSA Cardinals staff are excited for Joe and proud of him deciding to chase his dreams at the university of Iowa,” PSA Cardinals director Terrance “Munch” Williams said. “Joe has been nothing short of great for this program and we have a tone of confidence that he will continue to make New York City proud.”
According to 247Sports, Toussaint is a three-star prospect, ranked No. 229 nationally, and is the No. 5 player from New York.
Toussaint joins McCaffery’s son, Patrick, a four-star forward, in Iowa’s 2019 class.
