On-court coaching is prohibited at Grand Slam tournaments but that apparently didn’t stop umpire Mohamed Lahyani from giving notorious tanker Nick Kyrgios a pep talk on Thursday.
With Kyrgios not even attempting to return several serves by Pierre-Hugues Herbert during their second-round match and trailing 6-4, 3-0, Lahyani came down off his chair and gave Kyrgios a pep talk, telling him, “I’m trying to help you.”
Kyrgios said it’s not the first time an umpire has spoken to him about his actions being bad for the “integrity of the sport.”
“You know, the same thing happen to me, it’s happened in Shanghai before when we all know I had that moment in Shanghai where the referee said the same thing,” Kyrgios said after completing a 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-3, 6-0 comeback. “It’s not good for the integrity of the sport, doesn’t have a good look.”

James Bouknight, the 6-foot-5, 185-pound shooting guard from the MacDuffie School (MA) and the PSA Cardinals, took his first official visit to Virginia Tech this week.
“The visit went well,” he said. “I had a good time, they have a nice campus and a great staff. I like what they have to offer there.”
With Buzz Williams’ program losing several seniors, Bouknight could play a key role.
“I would have a big role,” he said. “They have four seniors leaving so there’s a lot of playing time. But I’m still going to continue to go on theses visits. I still haven’t made any decisions.”
Bouknight, who returned just before Peach Jam from a torn meniscus suffered in January, next visits Miami (Sept. 7-9) and UConn (Sept. 14-16).
He has a final five of Virginia Tech, Miami, VCU, Indiana and UConn.

“Most of the schools recruiting me right now said I’ll come in and play right away and I’ll be an impact player so that’s mostly the schools I’m looking at,” he said recently.

Duke’s loaded freshmen class will yield three of the top five picks in the 2019 NBA Draft, according to the latest mock from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
R.J. Barrett is the projected No. 1 pick to Philadelphia, Zion Williamson goes No. 3 to Phoenix and Cam Reddish No. 5 to the Knicks.
Barrett and Williamson both impressed NBA personnel during Duke’s recent 3-0 trip to the Bahamas.
As for Kentucky, freshman Keldon Johnson is projected at No. 8 to Memphis, while sophomore forward P.J. Washington is at No. 21 to Indiana.
Duke and Kentucky square off Nov. 6 in the Champions Class in Indianapolis.
