Aundre Hyatt signs with LSU for Class of 2018

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Aundre Hyatt, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound wing from the Miller School (VA) and Boo Williams, has signed with LSU for the Class of 2018.

Hyatt chose the Tigers over Seton Hall and Rutgers.

“LSU said that they really need a shooter bad to help out the program because they don’t really have that good of wings,” he previously said. “They’re going to have a good 2018 class.”

Before his decision, Hyatt planned to be a “three-level scorer, either at the two or the three. I feel like I’ll be a defensive presence because I’ve been working at it pretty hard. And just a team player.”

The Miller School went 27-4 record a season ago and won a state championship with Hyatt averaging 18 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Hyatt posted 46.7 percent from the field, including 34 percent from three-point range.

“We are pleased to have Aundre Hyatt join our LSU basketball program for the 2018-19 season,” said LSU Head Coach Will Wade, whose 2018 class is ranked No. 4 in the country in the national composite rankings. “He’s a high character, exceptional student who is known as a tremendous shooter. We are thrilled that he will add to our basketball family on and off the floor.”

Hyatt began his career at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, New York.

The Tigers with Hyatt, now have a signing class that includes five-star signees Naz Reid of Roselle Catholic in Roselle, New Jersey; and, Emmitt Williams of Lehigh Acres, Florida (Oak Ridge High); along with four star signees Ja’vonte Smart of Scotlandville Magnet in Baton Rouge (also Mr. Basketball in Louisiana); and, Darius Days of Gainesville, Florida (IMG Academy).

LSU Basketball also added Marlon Taylor from Panola (Texas) College whose hometown is Mt. Vernon, New York; Courtese Cooper of Elgin, Illinois, who comes to LSU from Triton (Ill.) College; and, Danya Kingsby(Milwaukee, Wisconsin), who played last season for the College of Southern Idaho.

Jon Rothstein of CBSSports.com first reported the signing.
