Nico Mannion, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Pinnacle (AZ) High School who will reclassify to 2019, plans to cut his list soon and says three schools are near-locks to make his revised list, while two blue bloods are trying to crack the list.
In June, Mannion named his top ten schools. Kansas, Duke, Oregon, Arizona, Utah, Villanova, Marquette, USC, UCLA, and Vanderbilt made the list.
He told Eric Bossi of Rivals.com that Arizona, Duke and Villanova are near-locks to make his new list once he cuts it.
“It’s hard to say right now,” he said. “Arizona, Duke and probably Villanova and then the other spots are hard.”
Mannion also told Bossi he has spoken with Kentucky coach John Calipari and will talk with North Carolina’s Roy Williams after this weekend.
“I’m trying to get my list cut down pretty soon,” Mannion said. “I was pretty ready but then Kentucky and North Carolina got into the mix so I wanted to talk to them a bit.”
Meantime, Williams has been a regular fixture this summer at PSA Cardinals games for another 2019 point guard, Cole Anthony, who has yet to name a list. Anthony has been pursued heavily this summer by North Carolina, Louisville, Oregon and Georgetown, among others.
According to 247Sports, Mannion is the No. 2 point guard in the Class of 2019.
