Jalen Cone, the 5-foot-11 point guard from Walkertown (NC) High School, told ZAGSBLOG on Tuesday that he is planning to visit Louisville, Kentucky, and Ole Miss in the near future.
“I plan on visiting Louisville and Kentucky in August, Ole Miss in September,” said Cone. “I’m still planning others and don’t have dates set yet.”
According to 247Sports, Cone is ranked as the No. 65 overall player in the Class of 2020 and the No. 4 player from the state of North Carolina. He currently holds offers from Hampton, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, UNC Greensboro, Ole Miss, and VCU.
In addition to his six offers, Cone is also receiving interest from schools such as Louisville, Kentucky, Tennessee, Butler, Yale, UNC Charlotte, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Xavier, Notre Dame, Clemson, NC State, Virginia, and Nebraska, among others.
“It’s still early so there are no standouts or favorites right now,” said Cone. “I’m just trying to get to know each staff better and better.”
Despite no schools standing out at the moment, Jone has a clear idea of what he’s looking for in a school.
“I’m looking at the relationship with the coaching staff. [I’m looking for] a place that’s going to let me play and teach me more about the game and life,” said Cone. “A place that’s going to help me get better and get me to achieve my plan of being an NBA All-Star.”
Cone has no timetable yet for a decision but says he plans on cutting his list down sometime towards the end of his junior summer going into his senior year.
