John Calipari provides P.J. Washington medical update

By ADAM ZAGORIA

Kentucky freshman PJ Washington decided to return to Kentucky for his sophomore season, and now the question is when will he return to full health?

Washington recently had surgery on the broken pinky on his left hand.

“P.J.’s not playing yet because of his hand,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said Monday on a conference call. “My guess is another two-and-a-half more weeks in the cast and probably another 10 days to two weeks of rehab and then he’ll be ready to go, so we’ll be ready.”

Washington was originally slated to spend four weeks in a cast.

The Wildcats are headed to Paradise Island in the Bahamas for a four-game, eight-day trip from Aug. 6-13. Kentucky will train on the island and play four professional teams during its stay as it prepares for the 2018-19 season.
