2018 USA Men’s U18 Training Camp Set to Begin With 32 Hopefuls

The 2018 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team training camp is expected to feature 32 athletes from May 31-June 2 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Kira Lewis (Hazel Green H.S./Hazel Green, Ala.) has been added to the group, while Zion Williamson(Spartanburg Day School/Spartanburg, S.C.) is no longer able to participate.

Training camp will begin on the evening of May 31, and the athletes will take part in sessions twice each day. Finalists for the team are expected to be announced on June 2. The roster and training schedule are available online.

The 2018 USA Basketball Men’s U18 National Team will be led by Hall of Fame head coach Bill Self (Kansas), with USA assistant coaches Anthony Grant (Dayton) and Danny Manning (Wake Forest).

Assisting the coaching staff during trials will be four court coaches, including Mike Brey (University of Notre Dame), Joe Dooley (East Carolina University), Oliver Drake (Midland University) and Chuck Moore (Richard Bland College).

Sixteen of the athletes possess prior USA Basketball experience.

Jallow is the lone player with college experience in the group, having competed as a freshman at Ohio State University in 2017-18

All nine of the training camp participants who will graduate high school in 2018 have committed to a college or university.

Twenty training camp participants are members of the high school class of 2019, of which just one athlete has verbally committed (Watson with Gonzaga University). Two athletes, Dickinson and Timberlake, will conclude their high school careers in 2020.
