Former Texas A&M point guard JJ Caldwell announces plans to turn pro

By SEAN BOCK

Former Texas A&M redshirt freshman point guard JJ Caldwell will pursue a career in professional basketball, he announced on Tuesday.

Playing in 16 games this season, Caldwell averaged 2.9 points and 2.6 assists per game. He started five of the 16 contests.

Caldwell was dismissed from the team in February after violating university policy. Caldwell is the fifth Aggie from this year’s team to announce his intentions to go pro.

Robert Williams, Tyler Davis and DJ Hogg have either signed with an agent or plan on it while Admon Gilder is still deciding whether he will go pro or return for his senior season.
