Tyrese Maxey sets announcement date

Tyrese Maxey, the 6-foot-3 point guard from South Garland (TX), will announce his college choice on May 9.

Maxey is considering Kentucky, Texas, Michigan, Michigan State and Oklahoma State.

Maxey is currently in the Class of 2019 but is weighing reclassifying to 2018.

“I have five schools in Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Michigan and Texas,” Maxey told Pat Lawless. “All of the schools I mentioned said they have a scholarship in 2018 and if I decide to go early they’ll be able to take me.”

As for potentially reclassifying, he said: “The positives of going 2018 is possibly reaching your dreams faster and getting to go against the best competition in the world. The pros of going 2019 is finishing out my senior year with my friends at school and try and win a state championship for that last ride. Also to do all the fun things you do your senior year with your friends.”
