Duke offers 2020 five-star guard R.J. Hampton

By SEAN BOCK

R.J. Hampton, the 6-foot-4 combo guard from Little Elm (TX), announced Thursday night he received a scholarship offer from Duke.

Hampton took an unofficial visit to Duke in October and also holds offers from Kansas, Texas, Baylor, and California among others.

“Coach K told my dad that he loved my game and to keep playing hard,” Hampton told Devils Illustrated. “(He said) that he would love to see me in a Duke jersey and that I can become one of the greats.”

Hampton leads the Under Armour Association circuit with 24.5 points and 6.5 assists per game after one weekend. The second session starts this weekend in Indianapolis.

According to 247Sports, Hampton is the No. 4 player in the 2020 class and the No. 2 combo guard.
