UConn lands grad transfer Kassoum Yakwe

By SEAN BOCK

UConn and head coach Dan Hurley have landed 6-foot-8 grad transfer Kassoum Yakwe, according to Andrew Slater.

Yakwe played his first three years of college at St. John’s and led the Big East in blocked shots as a freshman and finished second in the conference as a sophomore. He only played 10 games his junior season due to injuries.

The Huskies landed all three visitors from last weekend – Yakwe, Tarin Smith, and Brendan Adams – and now have 13 players on next year’s roster and will focus their attention on the 2019 class.

UConn assistant Tom Moore will see 2019s Akok Akok, Jaden Delaire, and Max Lorca-Lloyd on Tuesday, while Hurley and Kimani Young will also see 2019 Christ the King big man Kofi Cockburn and have a home visit with 2019 Gill St. Bernard’s point guard Paul Mulcahy.
