Romeo Langford talks final three, looking to plan Indiana visit

By JACOB POLACHECK

ATLANTA — Romeo Langford, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard from New Albany (IN) Senior High School, broke down his final three schools for ZAGSBLOG on Monday during his visit to the Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta:

Kansas: “With coach [Bill] Self, the name just speaks for itself. He’s a legendary coach, Hall of Famer, and he’s had success with big guards. From Andrew Wiggins to Kelly Oubre, he just knows what to do with them to make them succeed.”

Vanderbilt: “Coach Bryce Drew has been in the NBA. He’s been in the league, so he knows what it takes and how the league works. He has everything based on his NBA experience to get his players ready, specifically based on what they do off the court and his drill work.

Indiana: “Coach [Archie] Miller is a great coach. He gets the best out of his kids. He proved that with the team this year. They weren’t the most talented team, but he got them ready and got them up for the big games. Also, coach Ed Schilling and the Indiana coaching staff really cares about individual development, with the success he’s had and the players he coached and developed at UCLA.”

Langford, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 5 overall player in the Class of 2018, says that he is planning on taking another visit to Indiana.

“They want me to come up there so that they can talk to my family face-to-face one last time,” he said.

Langford will be competing on the East team in Wednesday’s game, alongside Kansas commit David McCormack and Vanderbilt commit Darius Garland. The West Team has two Kansas commits in Devon Dotson and Quentin Grimes with Simi Shittu committed to Vanderbilt.

“I’ve been talking to those guys. It’s really been Darius for Vanderbilt and Quentin for Kansas,” said Langford. “I text them a lot anyways as it is, but I was also able to meet Simi and Devon Dotson. I really don’t talk to them very much, but I was able to meet them and talk to them. They’re pretty cool dudes.”

Langford’s father told ZAGSBLOG on Monday that he will announce ‘end of April’. Langford reiterated that fact.

“Right now,” he said, “I want to get done with the McDonald’s Game, Jordan Brand Classic, and Nike Hoop Summit, then I’ll make my decision near the end of April.”
