Pittsburgh talking to Buffalo coach Nate Oats, Washington’s Mike Hopkins

By SEAN BOCK & ADAM ZAGORIA

After losing out on Dan Hurley to UConn, Pittsburgh is now talking to Buffalo coach Nate Oats and Washington coach Mike Hopkins, multiple sources told ZAGSBLOG.

In three years at Buffalo, Oats is 64-39 with two NCAA Tournament appearances. The Bulls knocked off No. 4 Arizona in the Round of 64 in this year’s tournament.

According to 247Sports, Buffalo has had the No. 1 recruiting class in the MAC the past three seasons.

In his first season at Washington, Hopkins went 21-13 and was named PAC-12 Coach of the Year. Hopkins played at Syracuse and was an assistant there for 22 years before taking the Washington job this offseason.
