Kevin Stallings out as Pittsburgh Head Coach

By JACOB POLACHECK

Pittsburgh has fired head coach Kevin Stallings after just two seasons with the team, as first reported by ESPN.  Stallings first signed a six-year deal after Jamie Dixon left for TCU in 2016.

Sources have said Stallings has been informed he is out, but the two sides are working on buyout details. In his first season as head coach, Stallings led the Panthers to a 16-17 record (4-14 ACC), before going  8-24 this season — including 0-19 in ACC games.

Prior to his brief stint with Pittsburgh, Stallings spent 17 seasons as the coach at Vanderbilt, where he was 332-220 with seven NCAA tournament appearances.

Among the coaches expected to be linked to the opening are Rhode Island’s Dan Hurley, Arizona’s Sean Miller, former Indiana coach Tom Crean and former Ohio State coach Thad Matta.
