2019 Kira Lewis Talks Recent Alabama Visit, Future Plans

Kira Lewis, the 6-foot-3 point guard from Hazel Green (AL) High School, took an unofficial visit to Alabama on Saturday (Jan. 27), as the Crimson Tide took down No. 12 ranked Oklahoma by a score of 80-73. He spoke with ZAGSBLOG on Monday about his visit.

“I liked the atmosphere in the [Coleman] Coliseum,” said Lewis. “It was loud and every fan was into the game!”

According to 247Sports, Lewis is ranked as the No. 119 overall player in the Class of 2019 and the No. 3 player from the state of Alabama. He also spoke about how he’ll fit in with Alabama’s style of play.

“With the style of play that they possess now, they like to get it out and go,” said Lewis. “Also, the defense they played on Trae Young was big.”

Alabama held Young to 17 points on 6-17 shooting. Young leads the NCAA in scoring with 29.6 points per game. In terms of fit, Lewis also feels that he would be able to come in and make an immediate impact.

“I️ feel I would fit in with playing fast, coming off ball screens, and making plays for teammates and making plays for myself,” said Lewis.

Following his Alabama visit, Lewis also says he plans on taking visits to Auburn, LSU, and Houston, but has no dates set. He broke down each school:

Auburn: “They have been playing well! They’re the hottest team in the country, in my opinion, and I️ expect them to make a deep run in the tournament. Also, they play really fast and they play with a lot of freedom.”

LSU: “They’ve had big time wins and they let their guards play. They let their guards be a main focal point in the offense. They also have a big recruiting class coming in too!”

Houston: “Coach [Kelvin] Sampson has turned the program around. They beat Wichita State a few days ago (Jan. 20) , so I’m looking forward to that visit.”
