Serena Williams to launch comeback at Fed Cup in North Carolina in February

Serena Williams will launch her comeback during the Fed Cup in Asheville, N.C., Feb. 10-11 in an event that will also feature her older sister Venus Williams.

Defending champion Serena pulled out of the Australian Open because she wasn’t feeling fit enough to compete. In a recent Vogue cover story, she revealed the extent of her medical issues post-childbirth and how she approaches playing Venus.

Serena has won 23 career Grand Slam singles titles, most in the Open Era and one shy of Margaret Court’s all-time mark of 24.

“I absolutely want more Grand Slams,” she told Vogue. “I’m well aware of the record books, unfortunately. It’s not a secret that I have my sights on 25.”

Venus has won seven Grand Slam titles and reached the finals of the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2017.

The sisters will also play at Madison Square Garden March 5 in the Tiebreak Tens event.
