A five-star recruit, Hagans visited Athens on Dec. 19 for the Georgia Tech/Georgia game.
Playing for Game Elite 2019 on the spring and summer circuit, Hagans had a very productive AAU season, leading to a rise in his stock.
Hagans chose the ‘Dawgs over Florida State, Kentucky, Auburn and Georgia Tech among others. Hagans’ cousin, Trey Thompkins, played for Georgia and the proximity to campus played a crucial role in his decision.
Hagans is the first commit in the 2019 class for head coach Mark Fox and Georgia. Fox and company are also in the running for 2019 top 60 prospects Juwan Gary and Elias King.
“It’s great,” Hagans told 247 about his relationship with Fox. “My cousin went there, so it’s like family. We’ve been talking to each other since I was eight or 10.” He’s like a father figure to me. We have a close bond.”
There are rumors that Hagans will reclassify to the 2018 class, but nothing has been made official yet.
According to 247Sports, Hagans is the No. 11 player in the 2019 class and the No. 2 point guard.
