The Hurley Brothers are Rolling

Don’t look now, but the Hurley Brothers are rolling.

Following Arizona State’s 95-85 win at No. 2 Kansas on Sunday, Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils are 9-0. On Monday, they moved up to No. 5 in the AP Poll.

Meantime, Dan Hurley and Rhode Island are 5-3, meaning the two Hurley Brothers are a combined 14-3 on the season.

Among those 14 wins, the brothers are a perfect 4-0 against the Big East. Rhode Island has beaten Seton Hall and Providence, while Arizona State beat St. John’s on Friday and thrashed then-No. 15 Xavier last month by 16 points.

Big East teams are 76-18 (.809) in the non-conference –with four of those 18 losses to the Hurley Brothers.

The Sun Devils, picked sixth in the Pac-12, own wins at No. 2 Kansas and over No. 15 Xavier on a neutral court, which should do wonders for their NCAA Tournament resume.

Meantime, Rhode Island was picked to win the A-10 and should get senior guard E.C. Matthews back soon from a wrist injury, just in time for the A-10 schedule.

It would be something if both brothers make the NCAA Tournament come March. It would be a cruel irony if the Selection Committee matches them up.
